The West Central Louisiana Amateur Radio Club held the monthly meeting today and many members were present to vote on a motion to cancel the 2010 WCLARC Hamfest.  This motion was brought to the floor because of low participation of club members putting on this event leaving most of the work on a few people.  Because of the popularity and the enjoyment of fellowship with amateurs who attend our hamfest , members voted to continue with the scheduled event.   The members that were able to attend the meeting to voice their opinions and to support the club is greatly appreciated.   Over the next few months as we prepare for the Hamfest, members are asked to help to the best of their ability.  Ms. Josie (W5JPJ) is the 2010 Hamfest coordinator.  She will be asking for assistance from all the members and your participation and support will make the 35th WCLARC Hamfest a success.

The Club Net was held on the new repeater.  Our original repeater had failed and has been sent to the factory for repairs.  The Club decided to purchase a new repeater and set of cans, so once the original repeater is back we can place both repeaters in the rack so we will have an immediate backup.  The new repeater sounds GREAT and everyone is glad to have the Leesville repeater once again on the air.  Lonnie, W5LPJ, announced again that the 2010 WCLARC Hamfest is cancelled, due to lack of participation by club members.   I think everyone will agree, if we cannot put on the BEST hamfest then it is appropriate to cancel.  Lonnie, W5LPJ, said there is discussions that maybe we should move our hamfest to May instead of August.   Lonnie, W5LPJ and Josie, W5JPJ, said they will continue to donate door prizes this year for the 2011 WCLARC Hamfest.   Thanks to everyone who took the time and effort to check in to the Thursday Club Net.

The April 2010 Club meeting was held today with a picnic following the meeting.  Thanks to all that were able to attend.

Those sure are good Angus Burgers!

The WCLARC 35th Annual Hamfest cancelled due to lack of member participation in the planning and preparation for the event.  We sincerely apologize to all those who regularly attend our annual hamfest.  Without club member participation, it is not possible for just a few active members to put on this large event.

We held the Club Net on the DeRidder repeater.  Lonnie, W5LPJ updated us on the Leesville repeater saying the audio board had failed.  It was proposed to purchase another repeater so we will have a backup on hand in the event of a future failure.  Many club members voiced support of the purchse of a new repeater.   Bill, WB5LYB noted that the April club meeting and picnic is the same day as the Monroe Hamfest.  Lonnie, W5LPJ asked for members to let him know if we should change the date of our meeting and picnic or not before next Thursday so we can plan accordingly.  Lonnie, W5LPJ said to feel free to come by or call the shop if you would like to voice your opinion on the repeater or meeting.  Earl, W5ELM is looking for communication support for this Sunday's enduro event.  If you would like to help, please contact Earl for information.  Thanks to all for taking the time to check into the net.

We held the Thursday Club Net on the DeRidder repeater.  Lonnie, W5LPJ said he had been to the repeater site and was unable to determine the exact fault.  Lonnie suspects that the problem may be on the receive side of the repeater.  Lee, AC5U is going to check out the repeater just as soon as he can get time.  We will post updates as they become available.
